This class is designed to give both experienced and non-expierenced students and opportunity to learn about and experience with a variety of art mediums. Students will learn to develop their technical and creative skills in this class.
Fine Arts
Waterbrook offers classes in Beginning Band, Concert Band, Beginning Strings, Concert Strings, Drum Ensemble, Drama, and Choir. Future plans include the development of Intermediate Band, Strings Ensemble, Pep Band, and Jazz Band
Photography
Photography captures moments in time through light, and allows us to see the world through different perspectives either as the viewer or the photographer. This photography course is designed to give students experiences with the creative and technical aspects of photography. Students will use digital cameras and other applications to shoot, compose, manipulate and edit digital photographs. The course begins with a history of Photography, how photography is criticized, how to incorporate the elements, and understanding the Principles of Art in producing quality images with a digital camera. Once students have covered the basics, they will add to their portfolio throughout the year which will include photographs from all aspects of photography.
Microsoft Office
This course focuses on building skills in the following Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. Students who are proficient in these three programs are in demand in the job market. An understanding of Word can improve writing skills. An understanding of Excel can improve analytical skills. An understanding in Powerpoint can improve presentation skills. Employers seek for these skills in potential employees. This course also includes keyboarding skills which assists students in improving speed and accuracy in typing. Lesson modules include lecture, video, and exercise to be completed in each of the three programs.
Forensics
This course gives students a basic understanding of the science behind criminal investigations. Students explore the methods of investigation used by law enforcement to gather and process evidence. This course involves lab work, experimentation, and studies of real-world cases. (*Note: This course contains mature content and is not offered every year.)
